How to write papers:
Pesonally, I don't like 20 page guides on what font and size to use, how many milimeters must it be from the top, what format, compression and size of pictures etc. Who needs those academic regulations?
We are not going to issue a nicely binded conference book. We are digital forensic experts as well as computer experts and we are able to write papers at a relatively high level, because we write forensic reports (and I suppose that forensic reports shoud be written at a relatively high level).
From the other side, your paper and your presentation should be readeble for all of us and for all others interested in digital forensics, because all materials will be published (exceptions from general publishing are acceptable).

Themes:

Go to "Themes" section to see proposed areas of interest of this conference. There you can find tips and main conference orientation. Shortly:
1. Education and certification of digital forensic experts
2. Standardisation of digital forensic examination and cerification of digital forensic laboratories
3. Techical problems of digital forensic examination
4. Other important information, case studies, theoretical papers, links to other disciplines and problems (eg. law-enforcement, Europol and Interpol specifics, justice, etc.)

Dates:

September 10, 2007
We need to have the name of the paper (cca 1 row), author's information (about 5 - 10 lines about you), author's contact (as minimum e-mail) and abstract (also about 5 - 10 lines).
September 30, 2007
We select appropriate papers for this conference and you will recieve information about this selection.
October 31, 2007
We need to have a full paper and information about the time you propose to present your paper.
November 15, 2007
We need to have your presentation (preferable in PPT format).

Language:

Conference language is English.
I must say that I am not fluent English speaker and strong rules dicourage me to from writing papers, though I am sure I am able to contribute something interesting or important.
This conference does not want to be restrictive at all. We are digital forensic experts, not professional English speakers. Imperfections in English will be acceptable till the state when the paper will not be understandable.

Size of the paper:

In case your information can be said using 3 pages (3 slides), why not? It is not necessary to wrap a short, but important, message into tons of chaff to extend the paper to the prescribed 10 (sometimes 30!) pages. So the size of your paper is only your decision, but keep in mind, that some common information should be included in your paper (see next).

Paper structure:

Minimum requirements for paper structure:
- Name of the paper (cca 1 row)
- Author information (about 5 - 10 lines about you - do not forget contacts)
- Abstract (also about 5 - 10 lines)
- Paper content
- Clear conclusion(s)
- List of sources (literature)

Presentation:

We have only one limit - your presentation must take max. 45 min. Shorter presentations are invited, but we need to know how long your presentation will be, because we need to organise the programme. So you need to check the time you will speak. Data format is your decision, but we prefer MS Powerpoint (only for compatibility). In case you use another presentation format/application you must guarantee that it will run on MS Windows XP without any installations or configurations.

Note: Take in mind:

Your paper and your presentation will be published on the Conference CD (DVD) and on this website. YOU should guarantee that your contribition, your ideas, your speech should be readable for all of us also after the conference.

It is your responsibility that your paper have all copyrights or other liabilities settled.
